Demond Mayfield, age 47, was born October 9, 1978, and passed away January 2, 2026. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and leader whose life was marked by service, discipline, and unwavering commitment to others.
Demond was a graduate of Jacob J. McClain High School and Alcorn State University. He dedicated his professional life to advocacy and labor leadership, serving as President of Florida Public Services Union, where he worked tirelessly on behalf of working families and public servants. His dedication to his work was well known, often extending far beyond ordinary hours.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Alexis, and his cherished child, Eden; his father, Alphonso Mayfield; and his sisters, Tracy J. Redmond and Alice T. Davis. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, mother, and aunts, whom he now joins in eternal rest.
Outside of his professional life, Demond had a deep love for sports and was a disciplined practitioner of jujitsu, recently earning a brown belt through commitment and perseverance.
Demond will be remembered for his leadership, loyalty, work ethic, and the profound impact he had on those he served and loved.
