On October 16, 2025 after a two-day trial, a Holmes
County jury has found Melvin Day guilty of First-Degree Murder in connection with
the September 14, 2024, shooting death of 28 y/o Jordan Perry. According to
evidence presented at trial, on September 14, 2024, officers with the Pickens Police
Department responded to reports of gunfire at the Citgo Gas Station located on Hwy
51 in Pickens, MS. Upon arrival, officers discovered a gruesome and bloody scene.
The victim was driven to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators were able to obtain video surveillance footage from the Citgo, which
clearly showed Day and Perry engaging in an altercation minutes before Perry was
gunned down. The video evidence, along with witness testimony played a key role
in securing the conviction. Melvin Day was sentenced to Life in Prison plus 10
years.
