Former Holmes County Central High School student SeMya Henderson spent her summer at Princeton University as part of the highly selective Princeton Summer Journalism Program (PSJP) — one of the nation’s most competitive programs for aspiring young journalists.
Now a student at KHS, SeMya joined a cohort of outstanding students from across the country for an intensive, immersive experience. She participated in journalism courses, writing workshops, and newsroom simulations while working alongside professional journalists and Princeton faculty.
“I loved the challenge,” SeMya said. “Being around other motivated students from all over the country really inspired me. I learned so much, not just about journalism, but about myself and my future goals.”
In addition to her work in journalism, SeMya is an accomplished tennis player, proudly representing KHS in district tournaments. Her family and supporters are excited about the opportunities this experience has opened for her as she prepares for college in the coming years.
