HOLMES COMMUNITY COLLEGE GOODMAN CAMPUS 49TH ANNUAL AWARDS & HONORS PROGRAM
The Holmes Community College Goodman Campus recently recognized outstanding student achievement during its annual awards ceremony, celebrating excellence in both academic and career-technical programs.
The program opened with a welcome by Andy Wood, followed by an invocation delivered by Dr. Luke Jones.
Faculty members presented academic awards to students who demonstrated exceptional achievement in their respective fields. Recipients included Jayden Neal in biological science, presented by Shelby Sones and Hannah Jobe; Megan Brewer in business administration, presented by Scott Pitts; Shelby Hopkins in choral music, presented by Drew Trautman; Makayla Kast in engineering, presented by Durga Siwakoti; Mikayla Tew in English and foreign language, presented by Sonja Arnett; Jada Clay in history and political science, presented by Charles Wood; Owen Clark in journalism, presented by Katherine Ellard; Makayla Kast in mathematics, presented by William Devore; Lennie Kate Wood in physical science, presented by Heather Jones; Isabelle Erwin in social and behavioral science, presented by Martin Eckelberry; and Shelby Hopkins in visual arts, presented by Jay Cheatham.
Career-technical awards were also presented to outstanding students across a variety of workforce programs. Honorees included Ollie Grace McLendon in architectural engineering technology, presented by Will Alexander; Adriana Johns in Associate Degree Nursing, presented by Patty Jones; Riley Nast in automotive service technology, presented by Derrick Rainey; Ethan Shirley in collision repair technology, presented by Casey Coldwell; Katrina Northcutt in cosmetology, presented by Christie Adams; John Connor Show in conservation law enforcement technology, presented by James Floyd; Fisher Gulledge in drafting and design technology, presented by Will Alexander; T.R. Quick in heating and air conditioning technology, presented by Jeffrey Cotton; Bennett Word in industrial technology, presented by Will Alexander; Emily Wilson in practical nursing, presented by Tammy Caldwell; and Jackson Hood in welding, presented by Ben Lewis.
Hall of Fame students were also recognized, and awards were presented by Andy Wood, vice president the Goodman Campus to Diana Garcia, Maeson Jolley, Makayla Kast, Jayden Neal, Lawson Nichols and Lennie Kate Wood.
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) special recognition was giving to Kazzye Wood and Lawson Nichols by advisors Will Alexander, Charles Wood and Simonee Miller. Wood was a also recognized as the PTK Golden Key Award recipient.
Another award given out during the program was the Dean and Directors Award. The academic award in that category went to Stephanie London and the career tech award went to Michael Smith.
Closing remarks were delivered by Wendy Grace, coordinator of academic programs on the Goodman Campus.
The ceremony highlighted the academic excellence, leadership and commitment demonstrated by Goodman Campus students. Faculty and staff commended the honorees for their achievements and encouraged them to continue striving for success in their academic and professional pursuits.
Friends, family and faculty joined the students in a reception that followed the program.
