JOHN MERCER “JAY” TIDWELL, JR.
John Mercer “Jay” Tidwell, Jr., 61, passed away on August 12, 2026, following a brief illness. Born September 22, 1964, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Jay lived his entire life in the hometown he loved and served so faithfully.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents, John Mercer Tidwell, Sr. and Johnann Tidwell. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 42 years, Lee; his son, Blake, and wife, Liza; his daughter, Morgan; and his two precious granddaughters, Fiona and Mia Blake. He is also survived by his sisters, Suzanne Allen (Mike) and Nancy Middleton (Johnny).
Jay’s greatest pride and joy was his family, especially his role as a loving husband, father, and doting grandfather. He leaves a legacy of love, loyalty, and selfless service to his hometown and to the many people who were blessed to call him a friend.
A homecoming service will be held Friday, August 21, at Monsour and Patin Funeral Directors. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the service following at noon.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
