MR. HENRY LUCKETT, JR.

Mr. Henry Luckett Jr. was born to Henry and Lucille Luckett on May 2, 1951 in Canton, MS and was the third of seven children. He accepted Christ as his savior at Bunker Hill Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully as deacon and teacher until his health declined.
He obtained his high school education from Rogers High School in Canton, MS where be received his diploma in 1970 and continued to Fisk University in Nashville, T where he received his B.A. in Business Administration in 1974. After obtaining his degree, he had a short banking career and went on to begin his career with the Mississippi Department of Human Services (MDHS) in Canton, MS in 1982 as a Child Support Supervisor. He later moved to MDHS in Lexington, MS in 1991 where he served as the Director until his retirement in 2008. He was also an active member of Holmes County Schools and Community, serving as a Charter member of Leadership Holmes in 1993, Just Acting Different in the early 1990s, Board of Directors of Holmes County Chambers of Commerce 2002-2010, where he served as President from 2008-2010, President of the Williams Sullivan School PTA from 2005-2010, and member of the board of State PTA of Mississippi. He served as Chancery Clerk of Holmes County from 2012-2020. He also worked for the Community Students Learning Center (CSLC) where he served in many capacities until his death.
Henry loved gardening and was a pillar of both his community and family who always exuded a heart of servitude and gratitude. Throughout his life journey, he was a very devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was always willing to go above and beyond to help others in any way that he could and touched every heart that he encountered.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Lucille Luckett and sister, Leora Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory; wife Charlie Luckett of Durant, MS; four children, Tony Suggs of Sallis, MS, Ashley Suggs of Durant, MS, Tiffany (Thomas) Buchanan of Gumee, IL, and Malcolm Luckett of Prattville, AL; two granddaughters, Audrey Howard of Gumee, IL and Jordyn Suggs of Durant, MS; five siblings, Mary Ware of Canton, MS, Carolyn Luckett of Pensacola, FL, Beverly Luckett of Pensacola, FL, Andrew Luckett of Birmingham, AL, and Aurie Luckett of Pensacola, FL; in-laws, Quentin (Jacqueline) Suggs of Rockford, IL; Rachel Frizell of Lexington, Ms. Fannie (Robert) Owens of Rockford, IL, Thurman (Sophia) Suggs of Kosciusko, MS, Eugene (Suzette) Suggs of Columbus, MS, Enoch (Teresa) Suggs of Sallis, MS, and Milton (Sonia) Suggs of Louisville, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
