Doris Mae Harthcock Carnathan, age 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 just two weeks shy of her 93rd birthday.
Doris was born October 26, 1932 to Beatrice Sims Harthcock and Claude Harthcock in Holmes County, Mississippi. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Bobbie Bonderer, her daughter Mary Bea Carnathan, and her grandson Shea Carnathan.
Doris was a devoted mother to Jackie Carnathan Sanford, Bubber Carnathan (wife Tess) and Don Carnathan (wife Pam). She was also a devoted Grandmother, Great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother to five grandchildren, Libby Carnathan Grantham (John), Luke Carnathan (Trish), Patrick Sanford, Julia Sanford, and Sarah Carnathan; five great-grandchildren, Lawson McReynolds, Reece McReynolds, Anna Reeves Sanford, Braeden Kehoe and Alana Carnathan; and one great-great-grandchild Slade McReynolds. Doris was so pleased to have had a picture taken with five generations before her passing.
Doris is best known for her dedication to the Lord as a member of the First Baptist Church in Lexington, Mississippi and her great love for her family. Her legacy will be seen and felt for many generations through all of the lives of friends and family that she has touched and influenced. She will forever be missed.
A celebration of life was to held at Southern Funeral home in Lexington, Mississippi on October 17, 2025. Visitation was held from 12:00 to 2:00 pm and services immediately followed. Burial was at Pinecrest Cemetery in Tchula, Mississippi.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked for memorials to be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or First Baptist Church, Lexington Mississippi in honor of Doris.
