October 30, 2026
Timothy Chisolm Meeks, age 65, of Lexington, Mississippi, passed away on October 30, 2026. A lifelong resident of Holmes County, he was born March 22, 1961, at the old Lexington Hospital and raised in the Coxburg community. He attended Central Holmes Academy.
After marrying, Tim and his wife moved to Lexington, establishing a home near the school where they raised their two daughters, Ashley and Nikki. He later settled into his permanent residence on Race Street in Lexington. Tim devoted his time to working, helping others, and supporting his children and their athletic teams.
Tim lived a life defined by hard work and friendship. Over the years he worked offshore, farmed, and held retail positions before starting his own business, Meeks Trucking, where he worked as a short-haul truck driver. He enjoyed gatherings with friends and never met a stranger, building friendships that extended well beyond Holmes County. Together with his friend Larry Wayne, he opened the popular local restaurant Head & Tails on the square in Lexington, where he was able to welcome the many friends he had made over the years. Despite physical challenges in later years, he continued working by operating a lawn care business until the time of his death.
Tim was actively involved in the Holmes County 4-H. Both of his daughters competed in the 4-H pig competition throughout their youth, and he shared his love of 4-H with his grandchildren, who continued the family tradition.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Francis Meeks and David Lee Meeks, Sr., and by his grandparents, Bettie Lee Chisolm and Edward Chisolm.
He is survived by his brothers, Michael Arnold Meeks (Debby Meeks) and David Lee Meeks (Gwen Meeks); his daughters, Ashley Meeks Ledbetter (Brannon Ledbetter) and Kimberly Meeks Edwards (Charles Edwards); and his grandchildren, Dalton Ledbetter, Denson Edwards, Addie Brooke Ledbetter, Charlie Cole Edwards, Rainer Ledbetter, Cayton Edwards, and Milla Ledbetter.
Pallbearers were Cayton Edwards, Rainer Ledbetter, Dalton Ledbetter, Denson Edwards, Jared Meeks, Joseph Engle, Davis Ables, and Trey Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers were Eddy Murtagh, Grady Ables, Thad Killebrew, Larry Wayne Johnson, George Tate, Robert Rogers, and Bert Langford.
