Marie Smith Wideman, 35, was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven on Sunday afternoon June 5th. A private graveside funeral was held on Wednesday, June 8th in Ebenezer, MS.
?Marie was born in Jackson, MS on February 17, 1981. She was the daughter of Patricia Smith Wideman of Flowood, MS and Yandell Humphrey Wideman of Ridgeland, MS. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Thomas E. Smith, Jr. of Arkabutla, MS, and paternal grandparents, Posey and Yandell Wideman of Jackson, MS.
?Marie was a devoted daughter to her parents. Marie demonstrated extreme compassion to those in need. She was very generous to ministries close to her heart, especially orphans, handicapped persons, and others with special needs. She created Christian videos that reached people all around the world. Even soldiers in Afghanistan have listened to Marie’s compilation of Christian music while on the battlefield.
?Marie is survived by her parents, Patricia Wideman and Yandell Wideman; her identical twin sister Posey H. Wideman of Flowood, MS; maternal grandmother Marie Smith of Madison, MS; Sandra Smith Holleman (Matt) of Madison, MS and Nan Copeland (George) of Ebenezer, MS; and a host of cousins and extended family.
Marie bravely battled cancer at the end of her life. She was ultimately healed and is rejoicing in Heaven today. The family wishes to express its special thanks to Baptist Hospital, Lee Dawkins, Brittany and Jason in the ICU unit for their kindness and compassion during her final days of life.
