Donald E. Underwood, US Navy, Ret. age 86, of Gautier, MS passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024. He was born Sept. 17, 1937 in Preston, West Virginia and has been a resident of Gautier since 1976. He was a United States Navy Chief Petty Officer having service from April 4, 1955 until October 1, 1972. Donald continued to serve his county in the US Navy Reserves until his retirement on March 1, 1984 as Chief Aviation Machinist’s Mate.
Donald retired from Rolls Royce in Pascagoula after 35 years of employment and enjoyed the friendships he developed there throughout the years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Edward and Sally Mae Underwood; sister, Judy Cecil, brother, Clarence Cecil Underwood.
Donald is survived by his son, Donald E. Underwood, II (Sky), Ocean Springs; daughter, Penni Underwood Elliot, Denton, TX; three sisters, Vernie Reed, Frances Cline and Martha Ford; two brothers, Grant Underwood and Reed Underwood; five grandchildren, Justin P. Elliot (Charlotte), Bridget K. Parsons (Scott), Christie Flores (Mark) 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, 11:30-12:30pm, at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula. Memorial Service will begin at 2:30 pm in the funeral home chapel followed by a funeral procession to Biloxi National Cemetery where full military honors to be rendered.
