Thomas Edwin “Eddie” Peacock, 76, of Brandon, MS, passed away peacefully at home
on November 21, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born and raised in Acona, MS, Eddie later met his beloved wife of 56 years while
attending junior college in Mattoon, Illinois. They married in 1968. Upon returning to
Mississippi in 1977, Eddie worked at Peaster Tractor Co. in Lexington until his
retirement in 2012.
A lifelong member of Acona Methodist Church, Eddie was deeply
involved in his community, serving on the Acona Volunteer Fire Department and as
caretaker of the Acona cemetery for 10 years. He also served on the church’s board. Eddie cherished time spent hunting, fishing, and creating memories with his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His great-grandson, Jax Hampton, captured
Eddie’s spirit, saying, “Grandaddy is fine since he’s still smiling and hopes he has so
much fun in heaven.”
Eddie is survived by his wife, Cheryl; daughter, Gina McCrory; son, Thomas E. Peacock
Jr. and wife Lisa Peacock; sister, Linda Gercens; best and dearest friend, Norman
Appleby; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Hampton, Christina Jade Berry, Brittany Allen, Austin
Peacock, Amie Gunter, Justin Gunter, and Joel Gunter; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Tina Louis Peacock; sister Frances
Peacock; brothers, Bob and Jerry Peacock; and parents, Boswell and Dorothy Peacock.
Eddie’s warmth and joy touched the lives of everyone he met. He will be deeply missed
by all who knew and loved him. The family expresses their gratitude to Dr. John
Winscott, cardiologist, Dr. Dennis Morgan, oncologist, and to their wonderful and caring
staff.
Funeral services were held at Sebrell Funeral Home, 425 Northpark Drive, Ridgeland,
MS on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. The Rev. Ricky Reece officiated the celebration of life service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Acona Cemetery fund.
