Lexington, MS – March 22, 2025 — The debutante tradition—rich in grace, community, and cultural pride—was beautifully reimagined as Kasey Jean Potee, a graduating senior at Holmes County Central High School, was named Miss P.E.A.R.L.S. Legacy and awarded a $1,000 scholarship at the Inaugural Debutante Scholarship Gala hosted by P.E.A.R.L.S. Mentoring for Girls, Inc.
In an atmosphere of classic elegance and Southern sophistication, the black-tie affair held at the Lexington Multipurpose Complex brought together families from across Mississippi and Tennessee to celebrate five exceptional young women who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and unwavering poise. Among them, Kasey stood out—not only for her scholastic success but for her exceptional presence and commitment to purpose.
Representing the Holmes County Chapter, Kasey holds an impressive 4.03 GPA and has been accepted to several prestigious institutions, including The University of Mississippi, Jackson State University, Clark Atlanta University, and Tulane University. Her escort for the evening was Rodrick Taylor, also a senior at Holmes County Central, who confidently joined her on the ballroom floor for a traditional waltz.
Kasey’s accolades speak for themselves: Class Vice President, Cheer Captain, Soprano Section Leader, and an active member of TSA, Student Government Association, BETA Club, and the softball team. Her portfolio of community involvement includes poll watching, canned food drives, and grassroots engagement efforts that speak to her civic awareness and compassion.
She also holds a strong creative spirit, crafting original works in graphic design, floral arranging, and bracelet making—blending artistry with entrepreneurial flair. Her future plans include majoring in Psychology and opening a private counseling practice, where she intends to provide mental health services with cultural sensitivity and professional excellence.
“Being a participant in the first PEARLS Mentoring for Girls Inc. Debutante Ball was a testament to the power of sisterhood, resilience, and determination,” said Kasey. “Receiving the highest honor, Miss P.E.A.R.L.S. Legacy, was a surreal moment that left me feeling seen, validated, and empowered to continue shining my light.”
Her father, Mr. Gregory Potee, who served as her guiding figure, shared, “As a father, I was honored to share this beautiful experience with my daughter. This was a much-needed showing of what it looks like for dads to be present and positive in our daughters’ moments of achievement.”
