COACH STEVE FLEMMING RETURNS TO CHCS AS HEAD OF SCHOOL

Coach Steve Flemming has accepted the position as Head of School at Central Holmes Christian School after a twenty-four-year hiatus. He brings to Central Holmes an extensive background in teaching, coaching, and administrative positions, and a deep-rooted commitment to education and community.
Coach Flemming is a lifelong resident of Cruger. A 1977 graduate of Cruger-Tchula Academy, Coach Flemming attended Mississippi State University where he played tight end on the football team. He was also an active member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He graduated in 1981 with an Agricultural Economics degree from Mississippi State University.
He later earned a Master’s degree in Administrative Education from Delta State University.
Coach Flemming is married to Lee Ann, an alumna of Central Holmes Academy. Together, they have a son, Steven, daughter-in-law- Stephanie, and a granddaughter, Leila. Steven serves as Vice-President at BankPlus in Lexington.
Coach Flemming began his full-time career in education in the 1998-1999 school-year at Central Holmes Academy. He coached boys basketball, gulf, baseball, and assisted in football. After 2001, his teaching, coaching, and administrative positions have taken him to stints at Carroll Academy, Pillow Academy, Benton Academy, Humphreys Academy, and Tri-County Academy.
Coach Flemming is an avid outdoorsman, a member of the M-Club, and a supporter of Mississippi State athletics.
He and his family are also actively involved in farming in the Cruger area.
His wife Lee Ann is looking forward to reacquainting with old friends and being back at her old alma mater. She stays busy with many activities, including a featured weekly column, entitled, “In the Kitchen with Lee Ann.” It is published in several newspapers, including the Holmes County Herald.
Coach Flemming’s vision for Central Holmes Christian School is multi-faceted; he envisions the school growing in numbers and spirituality. He states that “we need to develop students – whether in the classroom or on the field – to be good citizens and the leaders of tomorrow.”
He also states that students need to be prepared to attend college, the military or work after graduation.
Flemming envisions Central Holmes Christian School in the future as a model that other schools will want to imitate.
