TONI LYNN SIMMONS YATES

Toni Lynn Simmons Yates, age 60, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, August 30, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of her family.
Toni was preceded in death by her father Tommy Simmons and her mother Faye Spell Simmons, along with loving grandparents, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is survived by her husband Edwin Yates; a daughter Lauren Aikens (Clayton); a son Thomas Yates; one granddaughter Brinley Paxton; three brothers, Keith Simmons (Kim), Bubba Simmons (Regina), and Scott Simmons; two great aunts, Clarice Marshall and Johnene Lenoir; one aunt June Simmons Durff; and a host of cousins, great cousins, and great- great- cousins.
A memorial service celebrating Toni’s life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Coxburg Methodist Church (4060 Ebenezer Coxburg Rd Lexington, MS 39095). In place of flowers, Toni requested that donations be made to the church via mail (3201 Coxburg Road Lexington, MS 39095).
Toni’s life was a testament to love, faith, and resilience. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit and her example will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
